Will Mouse in Exchange for Room and Board in SW Virginia

To all our friends and volunteers and supporters:

As Barn Cat Buddies continues to grow and add to our list of amazing volunteers and supporters we will see some changes in the New Year.

I believe in 'term limits' and after five years in the positions of president and program director, I am stepping down to take on a less active (hands-on) role as Treasurer. I will continue marketing for barn homes and to work on special fundraising and other projects.

Sara
I'm so happy to introduce to anyone who hasn't yet met her, our wonderful, talented and uber-patient Vice President, Sara Stein, who will be moving into the position of President.

Sara is an amazing human being who juggles a full time job, is mom to three great boys and takes care of a household of lucky animals. She's been the quiet wo-man in the last year or more and my right hand gal on so many sticky situations.

I will remain by her side until she gets sick of me (LOL) and will always be around BCB-only now in the background. I'd love you to welcome Sara as she steps in to the position of new BCB President. You can friend her at Sara Stein on Facebook

Thank You all for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you in the years to come. I adore you all!!

For Feral Cat Caretakers: Thank you for logging on to our Barn Cat Buddies site. Currently we have no barns or other facilities in reserve and we constantly run ads and post flyers up. If you have kitties to re-home first please click here to read the protocol . Familiarize yourself with it so you can speak to farms in your area about how to safely re-home a kitty. Then feel free to download, print and post barn cat flyers in as many places as you can. Some areas could be vet's offices/laundromats/tack shops, etc. You can get to places we cannot. Calls that come in from the areas where you post a flyer will be referred back to you.

CLICK HERE to email us and let us know where you are posting and how many cats need to be placed. One small effort such as talking up the program and posting flyers can pay off in a big way!

Remember, a Barn Cat Buddy WILL ALWAYS GO TO THEIR NEW BARN HOME STERILIZED, EAR-NOTCHED & RABIES VACCINATED PRIOR TO THEIR RE-HOMING. By adopting a pair of expert Rodent Control Technicians you not only safe-guard expensive feed & grain, but also give these needy felines a SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE.

The Barn Cat Buddies program is soliciting for donations earmarked specifically for providing spay/neuter services and required vaccinations for animal companions of low income families.  When you click the "DONATE" button below, make sure that you enter "Low Cost Spay/Neuter" in the "Specify purpose of donation" box.  Remember that all of your donations are tax deductible.  Thank you.

If you are interested in purchasing or distributing handmade cat nip bags for use at your place of business please CLICK HERE to send us your information.

We sincerely thank you for any donation you can make.

This Is Why We Do What We Do

The Starfish Story

Original Story by: Loren Eisley

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, "What are you doing?"

The youth replied, "Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die."

"Son", the man said, "don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!"

After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said, "I made a difference for that one!"

I am the voice of the voiceless:
Through me, the dumb shall speak;
Till the deaf world's ear be made to hear
The cry of the wordless weak.
From street, from cage and from kennel,
From jungle, and stall, the wail
Of my tortured kin proclaims the sin
Of the mighty against the frail
You can make a difference in an animal's life.
